Sonic the Hedgehog was created in 1991 by Naoto Oshima, Yuji Naka and Hirokazu Yasuhara. Sonic is a fictional character and protagonist of the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise, which was developed by Naoto Oshima, Yuji Naka and Hirokazu Yasuhara in 1991. the original games featured high-speed side scrolling action with simple enemies, traps and every now and then a boss stage. Sonic would have to save his world from the evil Dr. Robotnik (later renamed as Dr. Eggman) who seeks the power of the Chaos Emeralds to create the Eggman Empire. over the years the game has greatly evolved. during the 32 bit "era" the first 3D sonic games appeared, although they were spin-off's of the series. the real 3D era came with the 6th generation of consoles. Sonic Adventure was the first in the series to feature the real 3D gameplay of the franchise.
